AMENDED RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, on January 21, 2026, the Board of Trustees for the Town of Oakwood, Oklahoma adopted Resolution No. 20261 calling for a Special Election to be held on June 16, 2026, and authorizing the issuance of a proclamation and notice of election in accordance with Oklahoma law; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 20261 accurately stated the date of the Special Election and the required election facts; and
WHEREAS, the proclamation and notice of election issued pursuant to Resolution No. 20261 contained a clerical error incorrectly stating the date on which the related ordinance was passed, and such error did not affect the date of the Special Election or any other material election requirement; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees desires to acknowledge and ratify the issuance of a corrected proclamation and notice of election so that the Town’s election records submitted to the Dewey County Election Board are accurate and internally consistent; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees finds that adoption of this Amended Resolution is in the best interests of the Town of Oakwood and serves solely to reaffirm the prior action calling the Special Election and to conform the Resolution to the corrected proclamation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TOWN OF OAKWOOD, OKLAHOMA, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. INCORPORATION OF RECITALS.
The recitals set forth above are incorporated herein by reference as if fully set forth.
SECTION 2. AMENDMENT; RATIFICATION OF CORRECTED PROCLAMATION.
A. Except as expressly amended by this Amended Resolution, Resolution No. 2026-1 (the “Original Resolution”) is hereby ratified and confirmed.
B. The Board of Trustees hereby acknowledges and ratifies the corrected proclamation and notice of special election, issued pursuant to the Original Resolution, which corrects the clerical error regarding the date the related ordinance was passed.
C. In the event of any conflict between this Amended Resolution and the Original Resolution, the terms of this Amended Resolution shall control.
SECTION 3. SUPERSEDING EFFECT; DIRECTIONS TO ELECTION OFFICIALS.
This Resolution is intended to, and shall, amend and supersede the Original Resolution
to the extent necessary to correct the clerical error in the proclamation and notice of election regarding the date the related ordinance was passed. The Town Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to take all actions reasonably necessary to implement this Resolution, including coordinating with the Dewey County Election Board for the conduct of the special election on the Special Election Date.
SECTION 4. TRANSMITTAL TO COUNTY ELECTION BOARD.
The Town Clerk is hereby directed to promptly transmit a certified copy of this
Resolution to the Secretary of the Dewey County Election Board and to file and maintain
the original of this Resolution in the official records for the Town of Oakwood.
SECTION 5. RATIFICATION.
All actions previously taken consistent with the intent of the Original Resolution and not inconsistent with this Resolution are hereby ratified and approved.
SECTION 6. SEVERABILITY.
If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, or phrase of this Resolution is for any reason held invalid, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this Resolution.
SECTION 8. EFFECTIVE DATE.
This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its adoption.
ADOPTED AND APPROVED by the Board of Trustees of the Town of Oakwood, Oklahoma, this 18th day of March 2026.
