CORRECTED PROCLAMATION AND NOTICE CALLING SPECIAL ELECTION
WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees for the Town of Oakwood, Oklahoma at a duly noticed meeting held on January 21, 2026, adopted Resolution No. 2026-1 (the “Election Resolution”) calling and authorizing a Special Election of the qualified electors of the Town of Oakwood, Oklahoma; and
WHEREAS, the Election Resolution contains and provides the facts required by law for submission to the Dewey County Election Board, including the date of the election and the questions to be voted upon, together with other information necessary to conduct the election; and
WHEREAS, after adoption and/or publication of the prior proclamation and notice titled “Special Election Proclamation” dated January 21, 2026 (the “Prior Proclamation”), it was determined that the Prior Proclamation contained a clerical error incorrectly stating the date on which the ordinance referenced therein was passed, and such clerical error did not affect the date of the Special Election or any other statutorily required election fact.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Roger Mullins, Mayor of the Town of Oakwood, Oklahoma, by virtue of the authority vested in me and in order to solely to correct the clerical error regarding the ordinance passage date in the Prior Proclamation and to conform the Prior Proclamation to the Election Resolution and applicable Oklahoma law do hereby rescind in its entirety the Prior Proclamation and issue this CORRECTED PROCLAMATION AND NOTICE, as follows:
By virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the State of Oklahoma, and the provisions of Ordinance Number 2026-2, duly passed by the Board of Trustees for the Town of Oakwood, Oklahoma, on the 21st day of January 2026, public notice is hereby given that a special election is hereby called, ordered and proclaimed to be held in said Town of Oakwood, Oklahoma, on the 16th day of June 2026, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified electors residing within the corporate limits of the Town of Oakwood, Oklahoma, the following proposition, to wit:
“Shall a franchise be granted to the Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company, a corporation, its successors and assigns giving it the right to produce, transmit and distribute electricity within the Town of Oakwood, Oklahoma and to sell electricity therein for all purposes for which it may be used, to the Town of Oakwood, Oklahoma, its inhabitants and the public generally, and the right to construct, maintain and operate a system of poles, wires, conduits and other facilities and equipment in, upon, across, under and over the streets, alleys, public grounds or ways in the Town of Oakwood, Oklahoma for such purposes, for a period of twenty-five (25) years; providing compensation to the Town of Oakwood, Oklahoma; in accordance with the terms of Ordinance Number 2026-2 passed and approved by the Board of Trustees for the Town of Oakwood, Oklahoma, on the 21st day of January, 2026?”
The ballot to be used at said election shall be substantially as follows:
“Shall a franchise be granted to the Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company, a corporation, its successors and assigns giving it the right to produce, transmit and distribute electricity within the Town of Oakwood, Oklahoma and to sell electricity therein for all purposes for which it may be used, to the Town of Oakwood, Oklahoma, its inhabitants and the public generally, and the right to construct, maintain and operate a system of poles, wires, conduits and other facilities and equipment in, upon, across, under and over the streets, alleys, public grounds or ways in the Town of Oakwood, Oklahoma for such purposes, for a period of twenty-five (25) years; providing compensation to the Town of Oakwood, Oklahoma; in accordance with the terms of Ordinance Number 2026-2 passed and approved by the Board of Trustees for the Town of Oakwood, Oklahoma, on the 21st day of January, 2026?”</div>
FOR THE PROPOSITION – YES
AGAINST THE PROPOSITION - NO
The polls for said election shall be opened at 7:00 a.m. and shall remain open until 7:00 p.m. on said 16th day of June, 2026.
The results of said election shall be returned to and canvassed by the County Election Board of the County of Dewey, State of Oklahoma, pursuant to the laws of the State of Oklahoma in such cases made and provided.
The Clerk is directed to: (A) cause notice to be published as required by law in a newspaper of general circulation in the Town of Oakwood, or if none, to post notice as provided by law; (B) deliver a certified copy of the Election Resolution and this Corrected Proclamation and Notice to the Secretary of the Dewey County Election Board; and (C) maintain this Corrected Proclamation in the Town of Oakwood’s official records.
